Types of logarithm
- Natural logarithm
- Common logarithm
Natural logarithm
Natural logarithms are the log with base ‘e’, It is represented by ln
Therefore, ln =loge.
‘e‘ is the Euler number, whose value is 2.718.
Example:
ex = 4 implies loge 4 = x implies ln 4 = x.
Common logarithm
Common logarithms are the log with base 10; it is represented by ‘log’
Therefore, log10 = log
Logarithm with base 10 is always represented as the logarithm with no base.
Example:
103 = 1000 implies log10 1000 = 3 implies log1000 = 3.
